Cosmetic Gum Surgery

Commonly used with patients whose smiles show more gum than actual tooth (visible gum line). Extra gum tissue can be removed through Gingivectomy, or the removal of excess gum tissue, which can expose more of the tooth’s surface. As a treatment for receding gum lines, patients may opt for Cosmetic Gum Grafting. During this treatment, a dentist will graft tissue from the roof of the mouth and/or cheeks and add it to the receded area of the gum line. Over time, this treatment will help protect tooth roots from damage.
